A New Ward

So last Sunday was our first time going to the Tierrasanta ward. It was so nice because the ward building is literally 5 minutes from my house. I enjoyed the drive there. There were pretty trees, and it is located in a really nice neighborhood. It was the first time in 5 years that I haven't worried someone was going to steal my car stereo while I was in church...maybe because my car's old and has a radio...but yeah. We made it through half of sacrament before Garrett got restless, so that was good. The rest of church consisted of chasing Garrett all around the church and having him scream bloody murder like I was hurting him if I ever tried to get him to come with me and stop running. So, needless to say, we didn't stay for the last 2 hours. We attempted primary for about 15 minutes, and actually Caiti was doing great in Nursery, so I felt bad taking her out of there. Hopefully, we'll get back into the swing of things soon.

Cute Doggy Update

So I just met my next door neighbor. She asked me if I had met her next door neighbor's dog, Biscuit. Apparently, he likes to climb under everyone's fences and try to get food off of unsuspecting softies. So, bummer...I guess we're not getting a doggy after all. Although, truth be told, I'm relieved. :)

Kevin's Job

Every day, Kevin gets up at 5 a.m. and gets ready for work. He drives around 15 minutes to get to the base. He is usually gone from 6 a.m. to around 7 p.m. It's a long day! His job right now consists of taking lube oil samples and fuel samples for engineering spaces. Next week he has indoctrination. He will learn about the ship and what to expect when he is deployed. Soon, he will be starting out on short deployments to see how the ship runs. They expect to leave on their 9-month deployment in January. Kevin's ship is the USS Comstock. It is an LSD (dock-landing ship). It transports marines and their equipment which means Kevin will be going wherever the marines end up going. Here is a link to his ship's official website.

Cute Doggy

Ever since we moved here this cute little miniature poodle somehow wiggles itself under our privacy fence and begs to come into our house. He likes to watch Garrett and Caiti playing through the sliding glass door. Tonight I noticed that Caiti was super happy, and I looked over and she was talking to the doggy at the sliding glass door. I had Kevin go outside and check this dog out. He was all bones. :( He didn't have a collar. So we let him come inside for some tuna...yeah...He was sooo hungry. That was gone in a second. Then we all went and played in our backyard with him. He wanted to stay with us all night, but we left him outside...for now. We will have to see how this little story plays out.

Cute Things My Kids Have Done Lately

So, we are finally getting settled here in San Diego. I don't have a digital camera yet, so you are just going to have to read boring text for now. We are loving it here though. It is so beautiful and fun and we have received lots and lots of blessings since moving here.

So, anyway, I just thought you might enjoy hearing about silly/cute things my kids have been doing. Let's start with Jason. Jason has figured out that he can move around the room. I will put him down on his tummy in one spot, turn around, and he's either on his back mad and crying because he accidentally turned over, or he is still on his tummy but in a completely different spot. He likes it when I put him in his sling and walk around at the park with him. That is his favorite kind of nap. He also just loves smiling huge at anyone who pays any attention to him.

Caiti is using a lot more words. I don't know what triggered this, but it makes me very happy. My favorite was when we were eating pickles, and she kept following me around and saying "Kipples, Kipples?" She also was sleeping one night and I brought Jason in her room with me, and she woke up and was all happy/sleepy and said, "Mama, baby." When the movers brought our stuff, she was in heaven rediscovering all of her old toys, and every time I turned around she had 2 new toys (1 in each hand and of course matching or similar things) and was talking to them and making them play together. She also has been giving her toys "baths" in the toilet, so we ended up putting childproof door knob covers on the bathroom doors. Haha. We ended up giving the kids the master bedroom because there is a huge closet with mirror doors, and you know how Garrett and Caiti are with mirrors. My favorite moment so far was going in and finding Caiti with a paper bowl on her head like a hat staring happily at herself and talking to her beautiful reflection.

Garrett loved how much space is in our new house. He runs a circular marathon (or gallops depending on his mood) almost all day. Now that we no longer have the piano, he has decided that our many counters in the kitchen work well for his perch. He even was sitting on it and stole one of the mover's hats. We looked all over for it and finally found it in one of the cupboards. He was happy to get his trampoline and slide back. We put them outside and so he likes to go outside and eat popsicles and sit on top of the slide. Garrett did "escape" once so far. That was lovely. Luckily, he was just hanging out on my next door neighbor's front porch. Our Housing Office will not let us put in a key deadbolt because it is a fire hazard, so I'm hoping the childproof doorknob cover will deter him for at least a little while. He hasn't tried again though. I'm sad because they don't have PBS Kids Sprout here. But we did find Noggin, regular PBS and Nick Jr., so that should be enough to keep him occupied.

Anyway, there's an update. Kevin and I are boring so I'm going to skip us. We love you all and miss you!

A New Start

So I tried a blog out before...I posted 2 blogs total in 3 years. I am going to attempt it again. So let me tell you about my family right now.






I'm married to my honey Kevin. He is in the Navy. We are actually going to be moving to San Diego on Friday. I am very excited for that. That is the main reason I decided to do a blog, because now I won't be around family anymore.



My oldest son is Garrett. He's a sweetie pie. He has autism. He is the king of echolalia which means repeating phrases you hear. Today, when we were swinging on my sister-in-law's swing in the backyard he looked at me and said, "You're so funny" because he wanted me to repeat it back to him. He also said, "You're so silly." So that I could say it back too. He's 4 years old and the tallest boy in his class.











My daughter Caiti will be 3 in October. She has autism as well. She is such a sweetie and very pretty. She does have a temper, but I'm thinking a lot of that is because she can't communicate and that is frustrating. Caiti is very musical and creates her own pretty little songs that she sings to her baby dolls. She is so fun to watch when she is playing. She loves her toys!




And then there is Jason. He was the surprise of the bunch. We thought we were only going to have 2 babies. I'm very happy we had that surprise. The scary thing is that we were told he was blighted ovum (meaning that the pregnancy sac was there but no baby developed), and they wanted to vacuum him out. Luckily, I told them no. I am so happy I listened to the spirit on that one so that we could have our cute little Jason. He has the prettiest smile and coos and tries to talk to us which makes me laugh.

I'm a stay-at-home mom/medical transcriptionist. My life is super crazy, and I can't remember the last time I didn't feel tired, but I mostly love it. :) I love my family and I am so excited for this new start in San Diego!
