We all know a sign of autism is lining your toys up...so no surprise that Caiti is really good at that. She organizes the toys by category, then puts them in a nice orderly line. Examples of this are all of her dolls, all of her Madagascar figurines, Dora/Diego toys, Chevron cars...basically anything that goes together. It just really makes her happy. Here is her favorite by far. I see this configuration the most, and as you can tell, these toys make her very happy.

I learn so much about autism through your blog. My brother has it but he is high functioning. People don't even realize he has it, they just think he's a little weird in the social department. Sometimes we get really frustrated with him and we have to remember that it's not his fault. He just doesn't know how to relate. I think you must be a pretty special person to have been sent such special spirits to raise in this life. And it looks to me like you are doing a great job of it. Are they going to test Jason for autism as well? If so, when will that happen and how is a diagnosis made?
Doctors have now started screening for autism at 18 months. They look to see if your child will point, if they will look towards your finger when you point, and they also evaluate how much language they have. We'll just have to wait and see with Jason, although I haven't seen anything so far that would make me concerned.
